What does "stainless steel & gold PVD" actually mean?
PVD stands for Physical Vapor Deposition — a high-tech process that fuses a real gold layer onto a surgical-grade stainless steel core in a vacuum chamber. The result looks like solid gold, but it's bonded at the molecular level instead of dipped or plated. PVD gold is up to 10x more durable than traditional gold-plated jewelry, doesn't flake, and resists tarnish, sweat, sunscreen and lake water.
Who is the Classic Link (stainless steel & gold PVD) best for?
It's our most popular first piece — perfect for first-timers, minimalists, anyone with sensitive skin, and clients who want everyday gold without the everyday gold price. It's also our top pick for kids, teens, college students, lake girls, gym girlies, and anyone who basically lives in their jewelry. Hypoallergenic, nickel-free, and completely shower/sweat/swim safe.
How does stainless steel & gold PVD compare to .925 sterling silver?
Different metals for different lifestyles. Stainless steel & gold PVD gives you the gold look with maximum durability and zero maintenance — it won't tarnish even if you never take it off. Solid .925 sterling silver is a softer, more traditional precious metal with a heavier feel and the classic silver glow, but it can naturally patina over time and prefers to stay dry. Classic ($50 bracelets) is the carefree everyday hero. Signature ($65 bracelets) is the elevated heirloom-feel option.
Will stainless steel & gold PVD turn my skin green?
No. That green-wrist effect comes from cheap brass or copper alloys reacting with skin — not from quality stainless steel. Our Classic Link is surgical-grade stainless steel with a real gold PVD bonded layer, so it's hypoallergenic, nickel-free, and completely safe for sensitive skin. Wear it 24/7 with zero worry.
What affects pricing?
Pricing depends on the chain you choose, the length needed (wrist, anklet, necklace), the metal (stainless steel & gold PVD, .925 sterling silver, 14k gold-filled, or solid 14k gold), and any charms or connectors you add. Every welded piece is fit and quoted in person.
Are prices per piece or per inch?
Our pricing is per finished piece, not by the inch. The price you see at your appointment is the final price for that custom-fit, welded piece — no surprise upcharges.
Does permanent jewelry pricing include welding?
Yes. Every Forever Linked price includes the chain, the custom fit, and the weld itself. You walk out wearing your finished piece.
What metals do you offer?
We carry stainless steel with gold PVD (Classic), solid .925 sterling silver (Signature), 14k gold-filled (Luxe), and a small Forever Collection of solid 14k gold heirloom pieces.
Can I add charms later?
Absolutely. Charms, birthstones and connectors can be added to your existing piece any time — most clients return seasonally to layer on something new.
What happens if my jewelry breaks?
Our chains have a built-in safety break to protect you from snags. If it breaks at the weld spot within 48 hours of your appointment, we re-weld it free. After that, re-welds are $10 at any Athens popup or appointment. Lost chains can't be replaced or refunded.
Can permanent jewelry be removed?
Yes — a single snip with small scissors removes it cleanly, with no damage to your skin. Many clients choose to re-weld a clipped piece later.
Do you offer solid gold?
Yes. Our Forever Collection features solid 14k gold pieces for clients who want a true heirloom investment — bridal stacks, milestone gifts and meaningful family pieces.
